Richard is our School Manager and a great excursion leader- he knows lots about local history and culture- and he is also a teacher so he'll make sure you improve your English at the same time as having fun.
13.01.22 Excursion to Hound Tor, on Dartmoor National Park
Hound Tor is an eerie, atmospheric tor at the top of a valley on Dartmoor. The tor apparently inspired Conan Doyle's novel 'Hound of the Baskervilles' and this tor, plus the ruins of the mysterious medieval village nearbye, makes this an exciting outing.
20.01.22 Excursion to Broadsands, South Devon Coast
Broadsands is on the South Devon coastal path and is neither sandy nor broad- in fact the beach is stony! But it is a hidden gem and worth a visit to explore the caves and rockpools on the beach, whatever the time of year.
27.01.22. Excursion to Bolberry Cross and Hope Cove.
Walk along the South Devon coastal path and enjoy stunning views of this spectacular seascape. And finish up in the exquisite Hope Cove, famous for smuggling and contraband in the 16th century.
03.02.22 Excursion to Cockington Country Park
Cockington Country Park spreads over 450 acres of gardens, parkland and woodland- so you can explore all these different areas in a day. Within the park, you can also watch traditional crafts at the craft village, visit the ancient Cockington church or wander through the streets of a quintessential English country village.
10.02.22 Excursion to Holne Woods, Dartmoor
Holne Wood, set on the banks of the River Dart, is an ancient western oak woodland. Peaceful and with the sounds of the river beside you, this is a great place to leave behind the pressures of everyday life and get back to the tranquillity of nature. All year round there is always something beautiful to see - whether it's the trees themselves dripping with lichens and mosses, the birdlife, or the excitement of the river in spate and idyll when it's a mere trickle in the summer months.
17.02.22 Excursion to Buckfast Abbey, a beautiful church and garden.
Buckfast Abbey is one of the oldest Catholic churches in Devon and dates back to 1018 and rule of King Cnut. Now home to a Franciscan order of monks, the abbey has a magnificent church and wonderful gardens famous for its healing herbs and lavenders.
23.02.22 Excursion to HillHouse Nursery and St Matthews Church, Landscove
Hillhouse Nursery is a family-run independent nursery which has unusual plants and a beautiful garden and tearoom to relax in. The nursery is set in the grounds of the gothic St Matthew's Church and Vicarage- and the vicarage is today's tearoom. You can visit the church as well as enjoy the gardens and nursery.
01.03.22 Excursion to Haytor and Widecombe on Dartmoor
Haytor and Widecombe are two of the msot popular places to visit on Dartmoor and are closely linked- there is a saying ‘Widecombe are plucking their geese’ which means it’s snowing on Haytor. Enjoy a delicious cream tea at the traditional tearoom in Widecombe.
